In honor of the essence of Thanksgiving, we came up with a few new creative ways to express gratitude to get into the Thanksgiving spirit. Gratitude has been linked to everything from improving happiness, body image, sleep, life, you name it. Instead of consuming spirits we Celebrate this year in the True Spirit of Thanksgiving! It is a gentle reminder to love those at our tables and beyond.
For some a little planning can go a long way especially when you have a history of disordered eating. In the midst of this food-focused holiday event could be far from a relaxing night with friends and family. It is hard to separate events being based in food from the part that is about connecting with people. For those who are trying to prevent triggers to an internal battle with bulumia, binge eating, and anorexia, the holidays are certainly among those experiences to be vulnerable and to know that you are not alone.
Eating disorders often bring about an internal fracturing of mind, body and spirit. It may feel like you have been trapped in your mind by eating disorder thoughts that disconnect you from your body and spirit. Recovery involves reintegrating the mind, body, and spirit, creating an internal sense of wholeness. To embrace this holiday season with the intention of healing Cooking for your Spirit is a healthy guide that lends courage and strength when struggling, and gives a way to express gratitude when all is well.
Thanksgiving Blessings,

Krishnamacharya (the grandfather of ALL yoga that you see out there these days) was born November 18, 1888. If he would be living today he would turn 129!
As an expression of gratitude here are a few things I’ve learned from him, without ever knowing him, and that inspire me daily:
Messenger of Yoga
As a teacher he kept a low profile but that did not mean he stopped propagating the message of yoga, he just did it wisely. Matter of fact, when A.G. Mohan was to go onto a yoga conference in the 70’s that was the direct advise that Krishnamacharya gave him: “Propagate Yoga Wisely”
He was picky of the students he took on because he knew that they would reflect on him and wanted more than anything to please the wishes of his guru Bramacharya, who asked him to go into the world and propagate yoga. That he did.
Every yoga teacher out there has been influenced by Krishnamacharya whether we know it or not.
He took Yoga seriously and practiced all his life.

Krishnamacharya inspires me to get on the mat everyday. His determined eye gaze seems to pervade all around the place where I practice, I know he is watching!

There are many methods today for cleaning crystals and gemstones in order to increase the effects of their metaphysical energies.
Gemstones are believed to have an extensive memory, remembering where they’ve been, who they’ve touched, and all forces and energies that have surrounded them. A crystal or gemstone can pass onto others any energy that it has stored within it. Often, gemstones need to be cleansed of any unwanted energies that they may have collected from you, from others, or from the environment.

Healers, Light workers, take care to clean their healing stones after each use because the stones might take pain (both physical and emotional) into themselves and pass it onto others if they have not been cleansed of those energies between uses. If a stone has absorbed negative energies, it may not work well for whatever purpose.

Methods for cleansing stones:
Fire – carefully pass the stone through the flame of a candle several times until you intuitively feel it has been cleared. The fire will burn away any negative energy. (Always use care when dealing with fire to ensure safety for yourself and environment).
Smudging – carefully pass the stone through the smoke of a white sage smudge stick several times until you intuitively feel it has been cleared. Read more about smudging gemstones here….
Water – rinse the stone in moving water. This can be done in one of three ways:
by holding the stone in a river or brook (placing it into a mesh bag will make it easier to hold onto) for several minutes,
by leaving it out in the rain for several hours,
by holding it under the faucet for several minutes. The water will wash away negative energy and return it to the Earth where it can be neutralized.
DO NOT USE WATER on soft stones such as angelite, some calcites, howlite, aragonite, azurite, dolomite, malachite, selenite, sulphur, etc. as it may dissolve the stone to a greater or lesser degree.
Earth – bury the stone in the ground for one full day, placing a marker over it so as to be able to find it later, or bury the stone in a pot of ground soil. (Do not use potting soil as it has been treated.) The soil will absorb negative energy, disperse it, and transmute it into positive energy. Stones feel very comfortable in the earth as it is where they formed and grew.
Air – smudge the stone on all sides with a sage smudge stick, or with dried sage or cedar, or pass it through the smoke of sandalwood or sage incense. Sage is a very effective cleanser, neutralizing negative energy and transmuting it into positive energy.
Sea salt – the most common method of cleansing stones is with water and sea salt. You can do this by placing the stone in a mesh bag and rinsing it in the ocean for several minutes, or by soaking the stone for several hours in a glass of water with a pinch of sea salt. CAUTIONS: *Salt may damage the finish on some stones. * Water may damage soft or friable stones. *Placing a stone in dry sea salt (without the water) may damage its electromagnetic field.
Light – place a stone in bright sunlight, either outside or on a windowsill, for at least an hour. NOTE: solar energy may be too violent for some stones, having been formed within the Earth devoid of any light. CAUTION: over time, sunlight may fade the color of some stones. An alternate, and gentler, method is to place the stone in moonlight for at least one night under a full moon, longer if the moon is not full.

Good luck! All cleansing methods are compatible with each other; so use whatever combination feels right for you and your stone. Intuitively, using a combination of methods is especially good for cleansing new stones, clearing stones for programming, and cleansing and recharging heavily drained stones. Combinations cleanse the stones more effectively and sometimes more quickly.

The violet flame is an invisible spiritual energy, the seventh ray of the Holy Spirit, that appears violet to those who have developed their spiritual vision. A flame of joy as it sweeps through the consciousness of humanity.

How To?
1. For about 1 to 3 minutes, visualize yourself sitting inside of a ball of Violet Light.
2. While visualizing this Light flowing all around and through you, keep repeating the following affirmation statement:
“I am a being of Violet Fire. I am the purity of Divine Love’s Desire.”
3. Express gratitude for the opportunity to connect with the Violet Flame.
And that’s it!
Try this for the next 40 days, and watch the shifts that begin to enter your life.
It’s a simple yet effective process that can empower and expand you!

There’s something special, magical, about sky-watching events. For just a second, something way up in the sky, outside of our daily lives, can pull us out of ourselves and into a communal experience that we share with people all over the world. We felt that with meteor showers and the solar eclipse earlier this year. Even with chaos going on in the world around us, it’s grounding. Lucky for us, The Beaver Full Moon will be the largest full moon we’ve had yet in 2017 and it’s happening to grace our sky this full moon weekend!
The Beaver Moon’s path isn’t passing through any of the 12 constellations of the traditional zodiac, but will pass into Cetus and in front of Aldebaran. The Aldebaran is the brightest star in Taurus, so on Nov. 5 you might just be able to see occultation which is when one celestial body blocks another.
Get your moon loving friends out for a special viewing. Bring the themed snacks like moon pies and enjoy the Beaver Moon.
