Making Your Own Ghee At Home

This liquid gold making at home is a simple task that can be accomplished very quickly and easily. Ghee can be used in place of butter and is an ideal cooking oil, as it does not burn unless heated excessively. It makes a wonderful body oil for massage and can serve as a base for herbal ointments.

Ghee is a digestive. It helps to improve absorption and assimilation. It nourishes ojas, tejas and prana. It is good for improving memory and lubricates the connective tissue making the body flexible and, in small doses, is tridoshic. Yogavahi, Ghee is- a catalytic agent that carries the medicinal properties of herbs into the seven dhatus.

Ingredients:

Organic Unsalted Butter

Directions:

Simmer sweet butter for 10 minutes over medium heat. Let cool for a few minutes, then remove all the white foam from the top. Clear yellow ghee will remain. Pour this through a cheesecloth into a container, not allowing any white sediment at the bottom of the pan to slide in.

Cover your jars loosely and let your precious ghee set for several hours at room temperature.

*One pound of butter will fill a 16oz (1 pint) Mason jar almost to the top.

The liver is the main organ responsible for detoxification in the body. Toxic compounds are altered by the liver so they can be safely eliminated. The Polarity Drink is designed to cleanse, purify, and restore the normal functioning of the liver, gallbladder, and kidneys. 

Adapted from a recipe by SSS for Polarity Drink 

1 whole orange or grapefruit (remove the peel and chop into pieces) 

1 whole lemon (remove the peel and chop into pieces) 

1-2 Tablespoons of cold-pressed olive oil 

1 slice of fresh ginger root (peeled) 

1-2 cloves of fresh garlic 

1-2 teaspoons of ground flax seeds 

1 pinch of cayenne pepper 

Place all ingredients in a blender and liquefy. Drink very slowly and on an empty stomach.

Yogi Tea Recipe 


Yogi Tea is health promoting, delicious, soothing and a great coffee substitute. It has a heavenly aroma and in the science of yogic foods the spices used are said to have the following five Ayurveda properties. 

• Black pepper: blood purifier 

• Cardamom pods: digestive aid 

• Cloves: beneficial to the nervous system 

• Cinnamon: strengthens the bones 

• Ginger root: healing for colds and flu, increases energy

The milk in the tea helps in the easy assimilation of spices. A homeopathic dose of black tea acts as an alloy for all the ingredients, creating just the right chemical balance.

Ingredients:

For each cup: 

10 ounces of water (about 1 1/3 cups) 

3 whole cloves 

4 whole green cardamom pods, cracked 

4 whole black peppercorns 

½ stick cinnamon 

¼ teaspoon black tea 

½ cup milk 

2 slices fresh ginger root

Cooking Instructions:

Bring water to a boil and add spices. Cover and boil 15 to 20 minutes, then add black tea. Let sit for a few minutes, then add the milk and return to a boil. Don’t let it boil over. When it reaches a boil, remove immediately from heat, strain, and sweeten with honey, if desired.

How to Use Mantra in Yoga Practice 

What is Mantra? The word mantra can be broken down into two parts: Man, which means mind and Tra, which means vehicle or  transport. In other words, a mantra is an instrument of the mind a powerful sound or vibration that you can use to enter a deep state of meditation. It’s simply a vehicle that helps you access heightened levels of awareness. Awareness referring to the ability to pay attention to the choices you make in your everyday life, and recognize when something isn’t working so you can change it. Developing a daily meditation practice helps cultivate a more present, peaceful, and balanced lifestyle. Mantras can help bring you back to that present state of mind. 

Suggested Mantras to begin: Mantra: OM


Translation: The sound of the universe. It’s the first, original vibration, representing the birth, death and re-birth process.

Chanting the sound OM brings us into harmonic resonance with the universe. 

OM is a blissful way to begin and end a yoga or mediation practice, and also comes in handy when you just need to chill out.

Mantra: Om Namah Shivaya 
Translation: I bow to Shiva, the supreme deity of transformation who represents the truest, highest self.

This is a great mantra to help build self-confidence, reminding us that we are all made up of divine energy and treat ourselves accordingly.

This mantra is a powerful way to dedicate yourself to living a life of non-harming and being of service to the greater good. This mantra encourages cooperation, compassion and living in harmony with the environment, animals and our fellow human beings.

Golden Milk Golden Recipe 

Golden Milk is a healing beauty tonic for vitality and flexibility! It’s especially beneficial for stiff joints and provides a source of lubrication for the entire system. Beneficial to the inner organs, the spine and the joints. It is purifying to the blood and promotes general good health. It also has external healing properties and can be used in masks and baths for the skin.

This recipe keeps a person beautiful and it’s true golden milk has healing powers. 

It includes both essential oils and turmeric, both vital ingredients to help women keep their flexibility and vitality! 

Ingredients:

1/8 teaspoon turmeric 

1/2 cup water 

8 ounces milk 

2 tablespoons raw almond oil 

Honey or Maple Syrup to taste

1 cardamom pod 
Cooking Instructions:

Simmer turmeric in water until it forms a nice paste. Suggested cooking time is 8 minutes, you can add more water as necessary. Meanwhile, bring milk to a boil with the almond oil. As soon as it boils, remove from heat. Combine the two mixtures using a blender if desired. Add honey or maple syrup to taste. The cardamom may be cooked with the turmeric for added flavor.

It is a delicious, soothing drink! Tumeric it is that gives this drink it’s beautiful golden color!
