Grab your crew and host the hottest awards party of the year with an Oscar-themed party. The Academy Awards show is an exciting day for just about everyone, from the movie enthusiast to even the casual movie-goer. All you need are a few Oscar party ideas to make your night just as grand.

Serve Fancy Oscar Eats!

Serve plenty of appetizers, like gourmet popcorn in cute buckets, bruschetta, and tiny fruit parfaits. An Oscar party is the perfect excuse to go all out with a charcuterie board. (If you’re short on time, Trader Joe’s sells a wide variety of frozen appetizers that look as good as they taste). Stick with the Oscars color scheme and use black and gold plates, cups, napkins, and utensils.

Give out Oscars to your Guests

Join in on the fun and give out Academy Awards of your own! Use ballots and envelopes just like the real deal, and make sure everyone gets their nominations in at the beginning of the party. Choose a few popular nominees and come up with some trivia questions about each one. You can also incorporate questions about past winners as well, to be fair to those who haven’t seen all of the recent films. Here’s how to set up the perfect hot chocolate bar:

1. Gather your ingredients: The star of the show is, of course, hot chocolate. Make it from scratch using cocoa powder, sugar, milk, and a dash of salt. If you’re tight on time, store-bought packets work just fine. Just be sure to have plenty to go around!

2. Variations of hot chocolate: Offering a variety of flavors adds a fun twist. Consider white chocolate, dark chocolate, or mint chocolate. If you want to go the extra mile, consider adding specialty flavored syrups or a mocha option.

3. The add-ins: This is where your guests can get creative. Mini marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate shavings, crushed candy canes, flavored creamers, and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg can all add unique twists to a classic hot chocolate.

Kid’s Spooky Halloween Cookies

As the spooky season approaches, the search for Halloween party ideas and treats begins. Look no further than these easy Halloween cookie recipes that are sure to impress all of your guests, young and old.

First up, the Eyeball Cookies. These creepy-cute treats are a fun way to add some ghoulish charm to your party spread. Simply make your favorite sugar cookie recipe, but instead of plain white frosting, add a dollop of red gel icing to the center. Use a black decorating gel to draw a circle around the red, and voila! You’ve got yourself some eyeballs that are sure to turn heads.

Next, try your hand at making Monster’s Teeth cookies. This recipe takes chocolate chip cookies to a whole new level of fright. Mix in some green food coloring to your dough to create a Frankenstein-inspired hue. Then, roll the dough into balls and shape them into jagged, pointed teeth before baking. Halloween is quickly approaching and I honestly can’t even believe it. Where did the year go? How in the world is it almost October 31st! I’m really enjoying this time in my life, raising a little toddler and sharing with her holiday traditions.

I love to put a smile on her face and this year we’re going to be the hostess with the mostess when serving any of these super fun Halloween snacks that are perfect for kids.

Holiday Recipes: Vegan Eggnog

Nothing says Christmas like eggnog! Our vegan version uses dates, cashews and apricots, plus almond milk and a whole nutmeg to reinvent this classic festive beverage.

When hosting a party, the success of your get-together comes down to three things: good friends, plenty of drinks, and great food.

Start your party off right with these party food ideas..

Veggie Dips
Chopped up vegetables like carrots, celery, broccoli and tomatoes are often a hit at birthday parties. Pair the veggies with dips like peanut butter, which is yummy and offers healthy protein. Or a cucumber yogurt dip for another healthy alternative.

 

Creative Kabobs
Assemble little kabobs for your guests. You can make them ahead of time and this presentation never fails to please. Depending on the age of your guests, you can use skewers, coffee stirrers or popsicle sticks. For a sweet snack assemble mini fruit kabobs.

 

 

Mac and Cheese
A great dish and no-fail crowd pleaser, mac and cheese can be made into a healthy kids’ party dish by using “whole wheat elbow macaroni, freshly grated cheddar cheese, low calorie and low sodium butter and skim milk.

 

 

Mini Grilled Cheese
Cut down on your cooking time by buttering and toasting your bread before the party starts. Simply place some cheese on the bread (butter-side out) and pop the sandwiches in the oven for a few minutes to melt the cheese.

 

Decorate Your Own Dessert
Instead of the traditional cake, try having “Decorate a Cake Pop”  You can provide lots of decorating products, like colorful icing and sprinkles.
