Solar Eclipse in Leo
We are having a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo tomorrow on Monday, August 21st and in the early hours of August 22nd in the East. This eclipse has been named ‘The Great American Eclipse’ as its pathway of totality will be cutting across the US from coast to coast.
Solar Eclipses are like a supercharged New Moon which occur every 6 months. They happen back to back with a Lunar Eclipse which is a supercharged Full Moon. Eclipse periods intertwine with endings and beginnings and in some cases can feel like starting a whole new chapter.
The energies are strongest within a month of occurring which is when related events or circumstances may transpire. The effects of eclipses can still manifest over the following 6 months and gradually leading up to it.
In the lead up to this, we recently had a Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius. Its energies signify changes around our friendships, associates, colleagues, teams, or a collective. It could even have to do with how we express ourselves in these dynamics, and also potentially lead to new growth in relationships and partnerships.
We started Mercury retrograde in Virgo on August 12th/13th which will last until September 5th/6th. Mercury Retrograde is a time of adjustments, insights, re visitation, and reorientation. The fact that this one is coinciding with eclipse season really emphasizes significant changes occurring late September, especially in the next 2-3 weeks following this Solar Eclipse.
Solar Eclipses always occur when there is a New Moon near one of the two Lunar Nodes, which in this case it is the North Node. The Nodes are where the pathway of the Moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic which is the pathway of the Sun.
The closer a New Moon is to a Node, the more coverage the Moon will have in blocking the Sun making it more astrologically significant as far as changes are concerned.
Leo is ruled by the Sun and it is the sign of the creator, the leader, the performer, and the superstar. It is about love and heart centered self-expression, whether it is in creative efforts, blissful activities, or in relationships. Leo is passionate, and inspiring, which is what earns Leo natives the spotlight they may desire. Leo is also associated with the inner child, children and has childlike and playful qualities.
This Solar Eclipse is aligned with Regulus, which is the brightest star that is closest to the Sun’s ecliptic pathway. This is the “heart of the Lion of the Leo constellation.

An Inspiration To Love Again
A broken heart and pained soul wants to give up on love altogether.
The reason to give love another shot, We’ve learned, is that by loving better and deeper, we become even more whole. Our hurt and tears clear the fog around our heart and illuminate the soul. The journey to love is a journey to one’s self, your highest, most sacred and loving self.
Here are a few ways to open up to love again.
Let go of pain.
You can’t let go of pain by resisting it. You could avoid the pain for some time, but in order to move forward you must fully embrace the pain. Embracing the pain means experiencing loss, grief and sadness.
The only way to stop blaming others is to forgive them. No matter how grave the offense or how unacceptable their behavior, your healing begins when you let go. Yes, it was unfair; yes, it was injustice; and yes, they did you wrong. But there’s nothing to be done now but forgive.
Let go of resistance.
Although love can be painful and heart-breaking, be willing to open your heart anyway. Love can only bloom if you’re open to love in your life. Set the intention for love to enter again. Be open to meeting new people, be open to being vulnerable, and be open to falling in love again.
Let go of shutting down.
When you close your heart and feelings to others, you may avoid pain but you’ll also miss out on happiness and joy. Seek to be your most honest self. Instead of shutting down, be yourself in the world, which will only make you more attractive. By being true to yourself, you’ll also attract people who are a better fit for you.
Let go of your blocks keeping you from experiencing divine love. Let go and choose love again.

Intuitive Affirmations

Beauty is Power. A Smile Is Its Sword.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Intuitive Eating: Food Journal
Nutrition therapy is about making changes that improve your relationship with food and your health. Food journals are one of a variety of therapeutic tools used during treatment for an eating disorder. Food journals or logs are also referred to as food records which can take many forms. Some people prefer to write things down free form in a personal notebook while others do best filling out the prepared charts provided by their nutritionist. Many others have gone tech-friendly by using an app on their phone to track info and share it. Regardless of the form it takes, a food journal does much more than track your food. A helpful format for food journals that include the time of day, a description of the snack or meal, the food and beverage intake, setting of the meal and, most importantly, the individual’s thoughts and feelings before, during and after eating.
Completing food logs and reviewing them can be a pretty powerful part of the recovery process. Not surprisingly, and perhaps because they can be so powerful, many individuals also experience some resistance to using them. If you’ve ever been encouraged to complete food logs as part of your treatment for an eating disorder but had trouble starting or committing to the process, we thought it might help to know why a nutritionist would recommend doing them and the specific ways in which they can assist in the recovery process.
Keeping a food journal provide insights into your bigger picture and provide a way to monitor progress. The journal communicates specific details from each meal, but they also show trends and patterns over the course of the week related to meal times, location, situational triggers and thoughts. Small weekly goals that create momentum towards overarching goals and bigger changes over time takes the pressure off of you to recall from memory the details of your food and symptom use from the past month.
Returning to a normal and healthy relationship with food means appropriately responding to hunger and fullness signals. It’s impossible to do that when your signals are broken from chaotic or disordered eating. The best thing to get your digestive system and metabolism back on track is structured eating which means adequate amounts of food with adequate frequency. Food journals aid in structured eating accountability, and structured eating over time sharpens your signals and helps you get to a place of intuitive eating.

How To Clean and Prepare Your Grill Before A BBQ Party
If you have a gas grill, take the grates out and give everything a good scrub down.
You can use a wire brush and a damp cloth to get the job done. We do not recommend soap because it can linger and it is tough to wash off. We recommend running your grilling tools through the dishwasher.
Scrub Grates and clean Grill Inside and Out. Remove any old coals and ash from the inside by scooping or dumping it into a trash bag

Where Are You Going? A Guide to What’s Next
There is no other step on the journey that happens as instantaneously as Surrender; but, it may take a very long time until we are ready to fully do so. When we do, our prior step of soul searching moves towards its end. Nearly simultaneously, the next step after Surrender – Healing – begins.
As we move deeper into the soul level of the journey, it becomes increasingly difficult to separate out the steps, for they overlap in a very non-linear way. Once we surrender, the opportunity is there for us to discover a higher power that is always available to assist us, we exercise our free will and allow it into our lives.
Surrender is about partnering with the Divine. It is about realizing that we are not alone and that we don't have to solve every dilemma by ourselves.
Indeed, as Einstein famously said, we can't solve problems at the same level of consciousness that created them. Surrender allows us to access a higher consciousness in order to transcend the problem and move to a new level entirely. Some call this grace. We call it empowerment.

Think Outside The Box
Every one has a different world view. Individual perspectives are influenced by a variety of factors. These include our family, our friends, experiences, and the cultures in which we live.
Here are a few suggestions of thinking outside the box as it can have a positive effect on your career, education, and even your interpersonal relationships.
When an issue seems to have no good solutions, your ability to take a completely different approach could be the key to finding the solution that nobody else can see. This makes you stand out from the crowd because you focus on the result instead of following a prescribed process.
You will learn to embrace stepping outside of your comfort zone and develop your critical thinking skills and your creativity. Ultimately, people who think outside the box are more likely to become leaders, and they are more likely to create things that are useful to many people. Anyone who is an entrepreneur is somebody who thinks outside the box. This person can see a problem and they think outside the box to create a better solution for that problem than any that currently exist. They see it as an unmet need, and by thinking outside the box finds a way to meet that need.
Do You Have The Ability to Think Outside The Box?
This is just like any other skill for some people it could come naturally, others have to work at it like exercising a muscle. Some people have to work very hard to learn to think outside the box. However, this is a skill that anybody can do and here are a few suggestions.
Do things that are creative, even if you aren’t very good at them
Watch or read things aren’t your usual choices
Experience and explore foreign cuisines, foods, art, culture, and music
Revisit an old project and work through it again using a different method or technique
Mentally correct yourself when you express things like, “This is the way we’ve always done things.” Change up your routine, and your thoughts
Thinking outside the box is about unlocking creativity and encourages others to do the same, bringing forth inspiration and motivation. Mastering the art of thinking outside the box and getting out of the box is key to achieving results.
