Bhakti Fest Yoga|Dance|Sacred Music Festival

Bhakti translates as love and devotion. This fabulous festival is four days of camping in the starry California desert, or spending your stay at Joshua Tree Retreat Center practicing meditation and yoga to live musicians, singing kirtan and dancing barefoot to the likes of MC Yogi and Donna Delory until late at night.

My whole heart is filled with so much happiness to be at Bhakti Fest
For those who like to keep the yoga and mantra mix going, White Swan Records offers innumerable soundtracks for the yoga of life.
Coconut Bliss served delicious scoops of pure delight. Cool, creamy bites of salted caramel, ginger cookie, and hazelnut chocolate kept yogi and yogini faces more than relaxed, chilled and happy while vibing to the mystic afternoon beats of Girish. With an eclectic mix of rock, indian and reggae inspired rhythms, every artist set us off into a state of bhavtastic bliss!

Bhakti Fest as a whole was  awesome. Part of what made it so powerful was that the entire sacred festival revolved around live music. It has been envisioned and talked about how Bhakti Fest is as a spiritual Woodstock, where thousands of people come together, chanting the names of God.
Krishna Das has said that in India, people understand that God is within. The Hindu images associated with God, deities like Krishna and Hanuman and Ganesha, are symbols of the divine that live in each one of us. Chanting the names of God from any tradition is sacred because each repetition is said to be a seed, and sooner or later, that seed grows.

The seeds of love were certainly sent out with rain showers and rainbows in the early morning sky. It was breathtaking to look at and a rainbow has such a powerful message to convey. Lovely to gather there with a cluster of new friends, sitting on lawn chairs and blankets, singing along with other music artists, everyone dancing and spinning. Fantastic evening concert and such a transforming event @ Joshua Tree Retreat Center

We LOVE Bhakti Fest!!

From Shakti Fest to the largest UFO Conference in the USA

Wishing that everyone had a great weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day.

For the last four years, We have headed to Shakti Fest and Bhakti Fest without fail. Shakti Fest is in Springtime. May 12-15 this year and truly had the Yoga and Music Experience of a Lifetime. Both Bhakti and Shakti Fest bring the best yoga teachers, Kirtan musicians, and workshop leaders to Joshua Tree. They celebrate the devotional paths of yoga, Kirtan and meditation. Quite a few of the Shakti/Bhakti workshop leaders have influenced our teaching and yoga playlists.

The most potent class for us this past weekend was the experience of Jaya Lakshmi and Ananda’s music. Their music is a combination of kirtan, bhajan and original singer/songwriter compositions. Alternating bansari flutes and vocal weaving, creating heaven on earth, they truly create a profound healing experience with a balanced sound current glowing with devotion.

On May 19 – 22, come meet us out in Joshua Tree as our journey beyond the mountains and across the high desert for an event that is truly out of this world: Contact In the Desert 2017, the largest UFO conference in the United States, will hold its 5th year at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. Activate Your Shakti At SHAKTI FEST

Happy May! This month brings beautiful flowers, sunshine, and Shakti Fest 2017

Into the heart and goddess within. Shakti Fest is happening in Joshua Tree . It has been said that Shakti Fest is like a Spiritual Woodstock at the Joshua Tree Retreat Center.

Shaktifest2

Shakti comes from the Sanskrit translation “to be able” We all have the ability to activate the sacred force of primordial cosmic energy. An awesome responsibility! Shakti refers to this powerful life force energy that moves through the entire universe, most often manifesting through the Great Goddess (Maha Devi). The variety of deities embodying Shakti energy are masters of form gifted with the ability to create and destroy the universe with one glance.

A friend to Shakti is Bhakti… Bhakti encompasses the choice to step onto a devotional path of love honoring the divine feminine. It is from this vibrational intention and powerful lineages from many Goddesses and Gods protecting and awakening us, here at this special event.

It is helpful to remember that both men and women embody the feminine essence and energy of Shakti as the ultimate power behind all creation. Although originating within Hinduism, it is appropriate to realize that all the Tara’s of Buddhism also represent this divine feminine energy. Many lineages and traditions share profound respect for the feminine, considered the mother of all seen and unseen realms throughout timeless spaciousness.
