Lucky Color Red

Colors have meaning and express a certain energy, and our subconscious is constantly taking cues. Red represents fire. Chinese people usually believe that red can be a sign of joy and good fortune. It has been a common color in Chinese New Year and other traditional holidays. That is why many people that have been married usually give red envelopes as red is a sign of good luck.

When you’re looking to make a change in your life, you may want to reconsider the color symbols in your home and office. Color is one of the most powerful tools used in feng shui. Red represents the element of fire, and because of its intensity, is considered a lucky color in feng shui. It can be used in doses to redirect energy around the home.

Grief and Loss: Dealing with Special Days

Birthdays, death days, holidays, and anniversaries–they can be hard to handle when our loved ones have passed on. Most of us don’t know what to expect on these days when they start creeping up. Will it be a day of remembering our loved one? Will it be a day of remembering the pain of their loss? Can any holiday ever feel the same again?
We’ve learned a few things that have helped us, and we hope they may be helpful to you.

The first year’s birth/death/anniversary/holidays are usually the most difficult.

Because we don’t know what to expect, they can seem overwhelming as they approach for the first time. We may want to feel a certain way but discover we feel completely different when the day’s finally arrived. We may place heavy expectations for that day and find our expectations aren’t met. We might be feeling like, “Who am I now that my loved one is gone, and how do I handle this anniversary?” Or, we may expect to feel deep sorrow and be surprised to feel “fine,” which can sometimes lead to unwanted feelings of guilt. Others may feel the opposite-wanting to completely check out, to not even celebrate at all. Honor their memory, & honor yourself for carrying on.

Time helps, but there’s no set time limit for grief.

Many people are told that the grieving process should be for “x” amount of months or weeks, but that’s not how grief works. There is no time limit, and the duration of grief really depends on many other factors–like how the person died and what your relationship was like before they died.

Remembering is good.

Remember the good times. Remember what you loved most about them. Remember their strengths. Often, on the birth or death day of our loved ones we have a family gathering and remember them by sharing memories. It’s good to remember.

Let yourself feel about and experience birthdays, death days, holidays, or anniversaries however you feel is best.

There is no right or wrong when it comes to these special days. Sometimes, it’s healthier to cry. Sometimes, its healthier to laugh and celebrate and sometimes it’s healthier to look ahead and plan the day. Do what works for you and for the time of your progression through grief.

Honor your loved one and Honor yourself for carrying on.

As the years progress, it becomes less about what we have lost and more about who they were, what they have taught us, and what we can leave behind in honor of  them. We can carry on. We can learn from their lives and grow. Then, we can share that growth with others.

That’s one of the best ways we can honor our loved ones who have passed on, to learn from them and then to share what we have learned; to let their legacy be one of peace, of hope, of peace, of compassion, and great love.

Road to Freedom

When you’re ready for change, surrender is the way to go so allow the transitions and transformation and be prepared to allow and receive.

If surrender is a hard concept for you, learn to stop resisting and start receiving. Since we have been having eclipses that bring forth change and a double dose of spiritual lessons and learning, We can each be powerful in our own lives while also connecting with all of humanity in a powerful and self and whole empowering way.

Moving into new paradigms of awareness, understanding, and empowerment come with a price that can be heavy at times, when we must let go of what no longer fits into the new reality. That process of letting go is surrender, acknowledging that we must release what represents resistance to our transformation.  Part of our surrender too, is allowing situations to end by recognizing that they have come to the ‘end of their energy road’. Sometimes these endings feel like a failure because we have given so much and worked so hard to create that outcome. We did not fail and cannot fail when an outcome depends on what someone else is going to choose. The past is gone and we need to face forward. While we may regret what did not work out the way we wanted, there is always a new day, new dawn,  new potentials, and a fresh start to the road to freedom.

Navigating New York

New York City “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.” NYC is renowned for its iconic buildings and larger than life energy. It has some unwritten rules which allows the city to operate at supreme efficiency and presents a straightforward grid, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get where you’re going. Here are five awesome tips for finding your way around the city with our navigational guide.

1.) Fifth Avenue splits NYC’s streets between east and west. The reason the trick above works is because Fifth Avenue splits the east and west sides of the city. Addresses change by the hundreds every avenue.

2.) Odd-numbered streets go west and even-numbered streets go east. Additionally, odd-numbered buildings are on the north side of the street and even-numbered addresses are on the south. (On a north-south street, odd buildings are on the west side, and even ones are on the east.)

3.) The color of a station’s subway tiles can tell you if you’ve missed an express stop. Seriously, there’s a secret code hidden in the city’s subway stations.

4.) The address of a building can tell you what avenues it’s between. For addresses on the the west side, just add the first number of the address (zero if the address is only two numbers) to 5 for the lower cross street. For example, 225 W 37th St. (2+5=7) is between Seventh and Eighth Avenue. For the east side, just subtract 5 from the same number for the highest cross street. So 150 E 18th St (1-5=-4) is between Fourth and Third Avenues.

5.) Use the lampposts in Central Park. Central Park is enormous and it’s easy to get lost. But here is on easy trick, that will help you get your bearings. Most lampposts have a set of numbers engraved on their base that match up with the cross-streets you would be on if the street extended through the park.

Become comfortable exploring the city on your own. It’s one of the best ways to learn the neighborhoods and find hidden gems.

Interior Styling

Interior styling refers to the art and science of making an interior space more pleasing and functionally useful for its inhabitants. Whether your home has 10 bedrooms, or your apartment is 800 square feet, it can be tricky to create a cohesive look that is a representative of your style. Interior decorating helps distill your tastes and ideas into a design that suits the needs of your space.

Whether you need help creating a functional space plan, rearranging existing pieces, designing the inside of a new home, or simply sourcing amazing furniture and decor, here are a few decor tips..

Create environments that are livable and approachable. Rooms could be decorated to reflect your personality and who you really are.

Take a risk with color. Every room needs a surprise. Color is not just for walls but also for trim, accessories, fabrics, and even ceilings. When used strategically in smart splashes, it infuses an unexpected, powerful vitality with a visual twist.

It’s not just about creating a beautiful house, but how it will be lived in. The art of decorating in the home environment comes down to balance – successfully mixing the refined and the relaxed.

Reflect your personality in your home and how you live in the space. A home to be a place that feels true to the story of where you have been, where you are, and where you are going.

Solar Eclipse in Leo

We are having a Total Solar Eclipse in Leo tomorrow on Monday, August 21st and in the early hours of August 22nd in the East. This eclipse has been named ‘The Great American Eclipse’ as its pathway of totality will be cutting across the US from coast to coast.

Solar Eclipses are like a supercharged New Moon which occur every 6 months. They happen back to back with a Lunar Eclipse which is a supercharged Full Moon. Eclipse periods intertwine with endings and beginnings and in some cases can feel like starting a whole new chapter.

The energies are strongest within a month of occurring which is when related events or circumstances may transpire. The effects of eclipses can still manifest over the following 6 months and gradually leading up to it.

In the lead up to this, we recently had a Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius. Its energies signify changes around our friendships, associates, colleagues, teams, or a collective. It could even have to do with how we express ourselves in these dynamics, and also potentially lead to new growth in relationships and partnerships.

We started Mercury retrograde in Virgo on August 12th/13th which will last until September 5th/6th. Mercury Retrograde is a time of adjustments, insights, re visitation, and reorientation. The fact that this one is coinciding with eclipse season really emphasizes significant changes occurring late September, especially in the next 2-3 weeks following this Solar Eclipse.

Solar Eclipses always occur when there is a New Moon near one of the two Lunar Nodes, which in this case it is the North Node. The Nodes are where the pathway of the Moon’s orbit crosses the ecliptic which is the pathway of the Sun.

The closer a New Moon is to a Node, the more coverage the Moon will have in blocking the Sun making it more astrologically significant as far as changes are concerned.

Leo is ruled by the Sun and it is the sign of the creator, the leader, the performer, and the superstar. It is about love and heart centered self-expression, whether it is in creative efforts, blissful activities, or in relationships. Leo is passionate, and inspiring, which is what earns Leo natives the spotlight they may desire. Leo is also associated with the inner child, children and has childlike and playful qualities.

This Solar Eclipse is aligned with Regulus, which is the brightest star that is closest to the Sun’s ecliptic pathway. This is the “heart of the Lion of the Leo constellation.

An Inspiration To Love Again

A broken heart and pained soul wants to give up on love altogether.

The reason to give love another shot, We’ve learned, is that by loving better and deeper, we become even more whole. Our hurt and tears clear the fog around our heart and illuminate the soul. The journey to love is a journey to one’s self, your highest, most sacred and loving self.

Here are a few ways to open up to love again.

Let go of pain.

You can’t let go of pain by resisting it. You could avoid the pain for some time, but in order to move forward you must fully embrace the pain. Embracing the pain means experiencing loss, grief and sadness.

The only way to stop blaming others is to forgive them. No matter how grave the offense or how unacceptable their behavior, your healing begins when you let go. Yes, it was unfair; yes, it was injustice; and yes, they did you wrong. But there’s nothing to be done now but forgive.

Let go of resistance.

Although love can be painful and heart-breaking, be willing to open your heart anyway. Love can only bloom if you’re open to love in your life. Set the intention for love to enter again. Be open to meeting new people, be open to being vulnerable, and be open to falling in love again.

Let go of shutting down.

When you close your heart and feelings to others, you may avoid pain but you’ll also miss out on happiness and joy. Seek to be your most honest self. Instead of shutting down, be yourself in the world, which will only make you more attractive. By being true to yourself, you’ll also attract people who are a better fit for you.

Let go of your blocks keeping you from experiencing divine love. Let go and choose love again.
