Deity: Goddess Laxmi

Goddess Lakshmi (laxmi) means Good Luck in the Hindu religion. Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity, in the material and spiritual plane.

Lakshmi is the household goddess of most Hindu families, and a favorite of women. Although she is worshiped daily, as the household goddess in India, the festive month of October is Lakshmi’s special month. Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on the full moon night as it brings out laxmi’s goddess nature as the  goddess of prosperity, wealth, purity, generosity, and the embodiment of beauty, grace, and charm.

Shakti comes from the Sanskrit translation “to be able” We all have the ability to activate the sacred force of primordial cosmic energy. An awesome responsibility! Shakti refers to this powerful life force energy that moves through the entire universe, most often manifesting through the Great Goddess (Maha Devi). The variety of deities embodying Shakti energy are masters of form gifted with the ability to create and destroy the universe with one glance.

A friend to Shakti is Bhakti… Bhakti encompasses the choice to step onto a devotional path of love honoring the divine feminine. It is from this vibrational intention and powerful lineages from many Goddesses and Gods protecting and awakening us, here at this special event.

It is helpful to remember that both men and women embody the feminine essence and energy of Shakti as the ultimate power behind all creation. Although originating within Hinduism, it is appropriate to realize that all the Tara’s of Buddhism also represent this divine feminine energy. Many lineages and traditions share profound respect for the feminine, considered the mother of all seen and unseen realms throughout timeless spaciousness.

Anahata

The fourth chakra, also known as the heart chakra or Anahata, is the center of love and connection. A strong, balanced heart chakra allows you to live freely and openly from a place of compassion. However, a blocked heart chakra can interfere with your happiness and relationships in many ways.

Healing the heart chakra, you will find many ways to help balance the fourth chakra. The simplest is to surround yourself with things that stimulate it. Its color is green, so wearing green gemstones, like emerald, malachite, jade and green tourmaline is best, green clothing or jewelry and lighting green candles can help open and balance it. Chakra healing crystals are  useful for this.

Regular meditation and yoga practice is wonderful for healing the chakras. Imagine a ball of light green healing energy in your chest, gently removing the blockage and opening your heart. Since Anahata’s element is air, deep breathing or pranayama into your heart space.

Ayurveda: Healing Science

Ayurveda embraces a holistic perspective of health, bringing awareness and balance to the energy flow between body, mind, and spirit.

Contained in Ayurvedic literature are several mythological origins of Ayurveda. The most popular say that the Creator of the Universe, known as Lord Brahma, recalling the science of life to mind, taught it to the great holy beings who walked on the earth during those days.

When disease began to trouble human beings, the wise sages assembled in the valley of the Himalayas to find a solution to ward off misery. They decided to learn the Science of Ayurveda from the great holy ones. After receiving this knowledge, the sages continued to pass down the science through their oral traditions for thousands of years.
