Open To Receive

Today kickstarts Shaktifest, a celebration honoring the Divine Feminine and it’s Mothers Day Weekend.

Pay Attention and watch what shows up in your life.

Synchronicities, such as overhearing a conversation that provides insight, or the sudden appearance of new opportunities and ideas; day dreams, like thinking about a passion you’d love to explore; and night dreams in the form of guidance or angel messages.

All demand a level of attentiveness and recognition that life is working to support you in mysterious ways. Pay attention and be open to receive.

Vinie Kaur was born to a traditional family in India immersed in ancient wisdom and healing technology. Her parents, Yogi Bhajan, Ph.D. and Bibiji Inderjit Kaur, Ph.D., raised Vinie in a home that integrated ancient Ayurvedic principles into nearly every aspect of their lives. Vinie learned from a young age the inherent healing and therapeutic benefits that are in natural herbs, aromas, and essential oils. Over her lifetime, Vinie has absorbed herself in the study of Ayurveda; she worked mindfully with her father and gained infinite knowledge of the secrets of Ayurveda. In her own journey Vinie believes that “What You Put On is What You Put Within.™”

Your dad was a big influence in your life. Can you tell us about one of your favorite memories?

One of my favorite memories is of my dad cooking. My dad LOVED herbs and spices and actually both of my parents were great cooks. My mom was a world renowned cook. They both looked at food as a healing supplement. When we were in Espanola, New Mexico, my dad would go into the kitchen, where there were hundreds of spices, to create an Ayurvedic meal. My dad opened this, then opened that, threw this in and threw that in, like the wit, wisdom and sorcery of a wizard. Food was always created in no less than an hour. We always had about 50 people around the house and they always knew when my dad was cooking, as it was always a feast! Everything was SPICY, we would all be sweating, we couldn’t breathe, and my dad would say “Good for you! See, this is how it is supposed to be!”
The aroma, the kitchen, the prana, its aliveness, the energy of happiness, and the healing always created a therapeutic meal. When my dad was cooking everyone would go into the kitchen and say, “Wow this is Yummy Food Time!” These were my favorite meals, such majestic moments. It brings tears to my eyes… such a beautiful time.
What was it that inspired you to create the Yogi Bath and Beauty Collection?

It was through my daily practice that I learned how herbs and oils possess inherent healing and many benefits. When I began to experience the pains of Fibromyalgia, and I turned to Ayurvedic compounds, healing herbs and essential oils for remedies and used them in my daily ritual. I soon began to discover the miraculous healing ways of these elements that are held in the wisdom of the plant kingdom. As I began to heal, I noticed that not only did the herbal medicines and oil applications relieve the pain associated with the illness, but my hair and skin also regained its healthy vibrancy.
As I regained my vitality, I began exploring the vast fountain of health and beauty secrets contained within these ancient, potent compounds of Ayurveda and I started to dive deeper into the knowledge of these healing herbs and oils. I started small by preparing formulations for myself and my family. I was developing a depth of knowledge and there was so much passion in my heart to share this wisdom.

Tell us about the Bhajan Body and Face Oil you created?
Bhajan Body and Face Oil was created from my desire to make one simple product with all of the herbs. Every product I make, I want it to be perfect. Coming up with names for our products is very important to me, we see it as once the name is given, the product has a destiny to be shared with the world. I named this body and face oil “Bhajan” because people who knew my father, can tell that this product has the same smell as him. Every time I see the bottle, I see love, and the aroma is so much like him. I had no intention to create it like that but it evolved by itself that way.
It contains both the vital energy of the plants and the positive energy from which it is created. The carefully selected plants are harvested at different times of the year to maximize their healing effects. The method of preparation combines dedication, love, and integrity with the purity of nature. The unique process of blending and brewing contributes to how well this oil delivers its therapeutic benefits.
How is the Bhajan Body Face and Oil created?
Firstly, premium quality plants are sourced and selected. In Ayurveda, a plant is regarded as containing five sections, each with medicinal value. Depending on the formula, between 1-5 parts of the plant are used, such as root, stem, leaf, flower and seeds. Then the plant is brewed for a number of hours. Over time moisture evaporates as the consistency of the plant changes, revealing the characteristic features of our oil and the radiant beauty that has been contained within it. Then it is bottled for your benefit.
The powerful Raja Restorative Hair Oil nourishes the scalp. Can you tell us how this deep scalp follicle hair treatment came into fruition?
Our products are for humankind and I saw a need for re-growing hair. Raja Restorative became the answer and acts as a scalp rejuvenator.
I find it fascinating that it takes many days to create the Raja Restorative, can you tell us a little bit more about the creation of this product?
It features bhringraj, known in India as the “King of Hair,” and it is also known for its miraculous effects. It helps with common concerns like receding hairline, baldness, dryness, and dandruff. It improves blood circulation in the scalp which helps revitalize hair follicles and promotes accelerated hair growth.

It is made by blending extracts of the bhringraj plant in an oil, similar to coconut oil. And again, as with all of my products, follow the Ayurveda way, where combinations of oils are infused with a combination of herbs. It is placed in a gigantic (heat-resistant) copper pot, as pots made from copper are ideal heat conductors. All of the ingredients are added and then they are slow-cooked for days and periodically stirred with a copper utensil. This slow process assures that the benefit of each ingredient gets infused properly.
Do you have a favorite herb, spice or aroma? If yes, why is it your favorite?

I do not just have one favorite, I have many. I love mixing smells, four or five scents at a time. Triphala, this might be my favorite actually because it is one of the most potent herbal remedies, with amazing healing powers. I also love turmeric. This golden wonder is a favorite because of its wide spectrum of medicinal qualities. It is so powerful. And then there is jasmine, I love jasmine!

Full Moon in Scorpio: Cold Case Cracked Open

Gateway to our True Depth. May’s Full Moon falls on the 10th/11th in the watery sign of Scorpio and holds extremely powerful and potent energy.

Scorpio energy is all about transformation and reaching higher levels of consciousness.

May 10th Full Moon in Scorpio will be intense, and not just because it’s Scorpio. Pluto retrograde Rx (Scorpio’s ruler) will trine the Sun in Taurus and make a sextile to the Moon. This adds an extra helping of Scorpio to an already serious culmination. This energy will be helpful all around for cracking open cold case files. Past crime or an accident that has not yet been fully solved.. Police departments discover around this time they are opening cold case units to re-examine cold case files for new information that could emerge from new witness testimony, re-examined archives, and new or retained material evidence. Not only is the investigator’s ultimate aim to resolve the cold case. This relates to your own emotional cold case that could benefit reexamination over a sustained period of time that translates into physical and emotional health well-being.
Full Moons are times of peak intensity – something has been building, and it will be eliminated  by Scorpio’s profound, unstoppable energy. The impact will be felt beneath the surface, so the result will be much more than a superficial change.

Secrets and hidden motivations may be exposed. You see Scorpio has the potential to reach Divine levels of consciousness and in some cases the exact opposite. This full moon is likely to have a lasting impact on all Scorpios and others who have a rising sign, moon sign or Venus placement in Scorpio. It could be able to assist in opening consciousness and awareness up to a whole new level entirely.

Happy Full Moon

Tips to Living With a Recovering Alcoholic or Addict

By understanding what is involved in living with a recovering alcoholic or drug addict, you can be better prepared to assist with recovery and offer support to decrease the chance of relapse.

If you’ve lived with a drug addict or alcoholic, you know that addiction doesn’t just affect the addict – it affects friends and family as well. The same goes for recovery.

One of the most important things that a family needs to be aware of when living with a recovering alcoholic or addict is the importance of maintaining an alcohol- or drug-free environment. Instead of going to the bar all day together replace drinking times with new suggestions such as

Going to the beach or Play a sport together.

Ride bikes.

Go to the movies.

Work on a garden.

Take a yoga class.

Go kayaking or for a hike.

Make a bonfire.

Try out a new restaurant.

Visit a museum.

Staying sober does get easier and there may come a time when you feel safe being in the presence of those who are engaging in activities that once felt natural to you, but are no longer part of your paradigm. Be gentle and patient with yourself in the process. Reframe what alcohol and other substances mean to you. They are not necessary to have a life that is filled with laughter and joy, family and friends.

Guidance for Loved Ones

A person in recovery can’t have “just one.” One drink, hit, or pill could very well lead to relapse.
Accept your beloved without judgment – Since many recovering addicts feel judged by their families and friends, try to refrain from criticism and negativity as much as you can. Instead, express love for your loved one and stay positive to their decision to maintain sobriety.

Actively listen – Some recovering addicts need people to listen to them, so be available to listen to your loved one’s victories and challenges.

Be patient – Recovery is a complex process. People often make mistakes in recovery, so it’s important for your loved one to know that their family and friends still support them even when they mess up.

A Damaged Neurotransmitter System Needs Time to Heal.

The damage addiction has done to neural pathways involved in reward, pain relief, stress management, learning and memory can have effects that last long after quitting the substance of abuse.

Among the challenges addicts in recovery experience is an increased sensitivity and reactivity to stress and addiction triggers the people, places and things that reminds the mind of drinking and using, causing to crave their substance of abuse. Their emotional reactivity can manifest as heightened anxiety and confusion. All of these symptoms can be correlated to the internal shift that is occurring in the brain’s reward center and the  neurotransmitter system, as many problem drinkers and substance abusers block glutamate.

A number of scientific studies have revealed the complex workings of our brain’s motivation and reward center and how neurotransmitters, often referred to as the brain’s “feel-good chemicals,” are released when we desire something or experience pleasure. Our brains produce numerous natural neurotransmitters that play crucial  roles in our health and how we feel. The brain also changes its production of these neurotransmitters in response to certain substances or stimuli, and this is why many experts now recognize the role neurotransmitters play in addiction.
What Happens When Alcohol or Other Drugs Enter the Scene?

For people who have a predisposition for addiction, the circuitry in the brain’s reward center changes in response to certain substances or stimuli, triggering a seek-and-reward mechanism. Over time and with repeated exposure, the person begins to crave more of the substance or activity that produces the positive feelings or relief from negative feelings. Additionally, engaging in spiritual activities has been shown to increase levels of dopamine and serotonin, which may explain the success of some 12-step programs that emphasize the spiritual aspect of the recovery journey.

The Gong Show: ABC

On this Stage, Anything Goes! We are so grateful when opportunities arise to be in the studio, on set, at a live taping for an upcoming tv show, game show, or any other new premiers.

This has been a favorite, I must say,   what a great trio Zach Galifianakis, Jack Black, and Will Forte as they rotate as celebrity judges for The Gong Show. Every episode features non-traditionally talented performers chosen from the internet and put in front of the revolving panel to show off their talents and the winner receives rewarding prizes.

The network has been given a 10-episode order to The Gong Show, a revival version of the amusing talent show competition, which is being executive produced by Will Arnett and his Electric Avenue Production. The person who is actually doing the hosting is someone we are definitely familiar with. It’s former Saturday Night Live star Mike Myers playing a fictional British comedian named Tommy Maitland, full force with prosthetic make-up enhancements, a false background and everything.

U.S. audiences aren’t familiar with the fictional host yet. The host loves to entertain, but says he can be a bit of a cheeky monkey. Nothing terribly dirty, just a little naughty at times. And he truly enjoys America – as he says: they’re very good, Americans, for the most part.

He asks the audience, “Who’s a cheeky monkey?” Then the audience goes, “You are.” And he says, “No, you’re a cheeky monkey, and that’s why I love you.” It’s the opening  catchphrase and is so cute!
You can expect to see a lot of wacky talent come through. We were laughing all throughout the taping of the show for it’s absurdist humor and style, outlandish losing acts being more memorable than the winners, awarding prizes, and the comedian behind Wayne’s World and Austin Powers seems to love to be in full character for the talent show gig. It’s exciting we’re soon going to see more of Mike Myers. His last appearance in a live-action film was Inglorious Bastards, in which he played a British general under heavy prosthetics. Now, he’s playing a British comedian under prosthetics, in this fun ABC’s revival of The Gong Show, once hosted by the recently departed Chuck Barris  (who was played by Sam Rockwell in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind). Myers’ character, British performer Tommy Winston Maitland, is the new face of the  talent contest.
The variety show, which will premiere June 22, 2017 is filled by an impressive rotation of celebrity guests who turn up in multiple episodes, such as Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, Alison Brie, Andy Samberg, Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, Dana Carvey, Will Forte, Jack Black and Anthony Anderson are among the others. Each of them praise, or critique and “gong” the contestants, to leave the stage or continue the performance. Similar to Showtime at The Apollo how people would boo or clap you off or on stage due to the liking of your performance.
Taped in front of a live audience 🙂 The Gong Show is produced by Electric Avenue Productions, Den of Thieves in association with Sony Pictures Television and Principato Young Entertainment.

Arnett executive produces with Evan Prager, Jesse Ignjatovic and Peter Principato. Jared Morell, Jordan Barrow and Marc Forman co-executive produce. Check it out this summer! For more information about The Gong Show click here
