Highly Intuitive Children

Why would you add tracking a child’s intuition to the list?

The answer is because a child’s intuition, also known as the sixth sense, may be much more important in the life of a child than many people realize. Intuition helps to alert us in danger, provides guidance in decision making, and even helps us in problem-solving by being able to jump quickly to the solution–bypassing rational, linear steps. For these reasons and so many more, it is crucial to help keep intuition alive in children. If a child’s relationship to their intuition is derailed because of judgment from others or fear of looking foolish, it can result in disrupting the clear connection to this inner compass.

All children are intuitive, but some are highly intuitive and experience more intuitive messages, or perceptions, with greater frequency than other children. Highly intuitive children often are unusually aware of the needs and feelings of friends, parents, siblings, and pets. They may frequently translate the unspoken needs of younger siblings and pets with striking accuracy and even pick up on the predominant feeling of a group of people as they enter a room. Others may tune into an unspoken family conflict, or tell someone to “be careful” before stumbling into an unknown situation.

I can tell you that the support an intuitive child receives growing up makes a significant difference in how an adult intuitive integrates this ability successfully into daily life. Intuitive children who are raised with respect for their insights and are taught to manage the stressors that can emerge with this trait grow up to be healthy, balanced intuitive adults.

On the other hand, highly intuitive children who learn to regularly suppress their intuition suffer consequences of reduced self-esteem, self-doubt, decision-making confusion, and difficulties with interpersonal boundaries as adults. The reason for these problems is large because if and when a child stops listening to and trusting her intuition, then she is suppressing the connection to her vitality and inner truth. When a child stops respecting her own inner compass, she is more likely to defer to what other people want of her–even at the expense of her own health, boundaries, and better judgment.

Here are a few suggestions that can help keep intuition strong in children, and solidify this gift for life.

· Maintain a positive attitude when children voice their intuitions. Kids who are very specific with their intuitive insights–such as specific predictions that soon come true–can surprise or frighten parents and trigger strong emotional responses ranging from awe at one end of the spectrum to shock at the other. Intuitive kids are quite perceptive and if they notice that their intuitions are upsetting to parents, or that they receive unusual praise for insights that seem perfectly natural to them, they may either silence their intuitive perceptions or use them to get attention in order to feel special.

· Stay open and responsive to what emerges with the child’s intuition. Overlooking, discounting, or denying a highly intuitive child’s inborn trait can also mean that this child can’t engage in valuable conversations with her parents about her truest experiences, nor can she problem solve with parents about the potentially stressful components of this trait.

· Pay attention to your child’s health. If your highly intuitive child is acting out with angry outbursts, is vulnerable to dramatic mood swings, or is suffering from unexplained aches and pains, he or she may be reacting to the constant inflow of feelings and information from the outside world. These children need to learn how to manage stress, recognize others’ emotions without taking them on, and protect their health. By understanding that your child’s symptoms are real and related to outside stressors, you can help him find healthy ways to express feelings.

· Give your highly intuitive child loving support. Perceptive children call for perceptive parenting, and with attentive parenting, you help a highly intuitive child thrive. Giving an intuitive child your loving support while she grows up will help her trust herself as she launches into adulthood. It will also help to ensure that she’ll have this powerful part of her personality intact as an adult and not have to work hard at excavating her true self at a later date.

Some children can walk into a room and feel “the vibe” instantly in their body. Others may tune into an unspoken family conflict, or tell someone to “be careful” before stumbling into an unknown situation. These may seem to be the normal human qualities of intuition and empathy, but in highly intuitive children (and adults), such traits are supercharged. Growing up in a culture that favors the rational and the five senses can be difficult for gifted children. It is important to embrace and exercise their gift.

It is crucial to help keep intuition alive in children. If a child’s relationship to their intuition is derailed because of judgment from others it can result in disrupting the clear connection to this inner compass.

Vibration of Trust

Trust is a complicated emotion. Some people take it for granted, while for others fear may keep them from trusting. Trust begins within you and it travels between your soul and human self. It actually is deeply aligned with the vibration of self love.

As you trust in yourself you have greater confidence and you can relax into the flow of potential.

The Mind’s Reaction

When energies start to pick up momentum as powerfully as they have been, the mind tends to get extra-reactive, because it wants to survive and protect itself from the changes it knows are soon to follow.

The mind resists change, because it sees change as something that’s requiring it to give up what it’s always had.

Change is something the mind can greatly benefit from, and it will be on board with change once we let it know that it doesn’t have to give up anything it doesn’t want to give up.

What we are experiencing right now depends solely on where we choose to place our focus and attention.

When we are focusing on surface energies, we’ll probably find ourselves feeling fearful and stuck.

When we are focusing on what’s happening underneath the surface, that’s when deep and lasting healing begins to take place.

We have the opportunity to see many extremes now, both in our personal lives and on the global stage.

On a personal level, the highs may seem higher than ever one minute, and then all of a sudden we get triggered, and spiral into lows we thought we had overcome long ago.

The same thing is happening on the global stage as well. The thing about this intensity, is that it’s a precursor to the big changes that are unfolding now.

What is being asked of us right now is simply to become a witness, an observer.

When we are able to step out of a reactive space, one where we’ve been triggered by our surroundings and move into being an observer, we begin to see every experience as simply feedback, letting us know what we either do and do not resonate with.

Getting into observer mode immediately lessens the charge of whatever is causing our angst. From this space, when we do encounter extremes in our surroundings, it becomes much easier to remain centered and unbothered by it all.

As observers, we empower ourselves to remain centered through all situations (even challenging ones), so that we can fine-tune our knowing of what we do want to create more of.

Prenatal Yoga: Poses to Use Daily

Prenatal Yoga is a great practice for supporting physical fitness, easing discomforts, and encouraging mental and emotional balance during pregnancy. It can help mothers-to-be connect with their bodies and their babies and also provides movements, relaxation, and awareness.

Practice loving compassion for yourself and your baby. Here are some suggested yoga poses to use daily

Butterfly: Open the Hips
Butterfly pose (baddha konasana) is a wonderful stretch for the hips and groin muscles. For many women who feel aching in the hips, this can be a comfortable position to sit in even when not doing yoga.

Cat-Cow: Keep the Back Happy
Cat-cow strengthens and relaxes the lower back, improves circulation, and provides a nice release for the belly. It also encourages optimal fetal positioning when used regularly in the later weeks of pregnancy. Mothers to be like using this pose in Prenatal Yoga.

One caution in the “cow” posture: be careful not to over-arch the back, which is common in pregnancy and can sometimes be exaggerated in this posture.

Squatting: Strength & Birth Preparation
While it has been lost in many birth settings in Western culture, squatting has actually been used by birthing women since the beginning of time. Squatting opens the pelvic area by as much as 25 percent, utilizes gravity, and often provides an ideal angle for the baby’s descent. Even if it is not used in birth, squatting is wonderful for building strength and stretching the muscles of the back and hips.

Arm Swings: For Endurance
There are numerous variations of arm swings that can be used to build stamina and endurance, and develop the mind’s capacity to “keep up.”

Prenatal yoga is one of the best things that you can do for yourself, as well as your growing baby.  A prenatal yoga practice allows us to slow down and focus attention on what is going on within our bodies. Through working with our breath and doing each pose, you become more aware of what is going on within.

July Energy Report

July is a month of deep inner movement which, like an earthquake far below the earth’s crust, may well shake foundations, but is less likely to bring the structures of our lives crashing down. With up to six retrogrades throughout the month, two eclipses (one also a Supermoon) and Mars still on the South Node, our internal world is in the spotlight. This is a time of profound and sometimes hard truths; of unrelenting forces of change which penetrate our psyches to reach the most unwilling parts of the shadow self. If we cling to falsehoods for security or resist the current evolutionary path which emphasises the fertile complexities of darkness, we will struggle. But when we allow that darkness to deepen and enrich us, we can know peace like never before. Sometimes we must simply be endarkened, not enlightened, to know the truth. This month emphasises the connection between inner and outer. Shifts in perspective will bring about changes in circumstance, revealing just how deeply the witness impacts the event. There is no such thing as a ‘pure’ happening, only experience to which we assign meaning that makes sense of a complex world. But that ‘sense’ isn’t necessarily true. A semi-sextile between Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus throughout July provides ample opportunity to observe the impact of our attitude upon life’s unfolding. Chiron demands an assertive response to challenge. It doesn’t have time to wallow in self-pity or detach into premature transcendence. It simply wants us to get over ourselves and move on! Combined with Uranus’s unremitting assault on the most inflexible parts of the psyche (which often harbour our deepest fears), this is a potent alliance which fosters new ways to respond to old problems and awakens the possibility for change where it’s long overdue.Throughout July we can look fear in the eye, stand firm and refuse to be diminished. It’s okay to feel it. Everyone does. It’s completely natural. But it helps to know it as well as feel it. Notice its truths and its lies. Feel its heightened senses or its fingers around your throat. Know that fear is part of you, not an external invader. We create fear with the stories we conjure about life, ourselves and other people, so pay attention to its triggers now.Patience, with ourselves and each other, as we all navigate a changing interior will go a long way to reducing potential conflict that could do more harm than good. We still have one more eclipse to go (a solar eclipse in Leo on 11th August) so this process of unveiling is not yet complete. And with Mercury retrograde until the middle of next month, there will be plenty of opportunity to get to the root of things and recalibrate perspectives accordingly. The more we can appreciate the achingly intimate and expansively maelstrom that is life, the better we can act with power when necessary and relinquish control when we must, led by the innate intelligence of a life whose mysterious ways are forever beyond our understanding and yet seeded deep within our soul.love, k ❤

Intuitive Psychology: Take the Path of Least Resistance

The law of least effort goes by many names such as going with the flow, to name a couple, but the path of least resistance is a theme we hear about in many spiritual texts. At first, it may go against everything you have ever believed was true about following your dreams and achieving your goals. Is this concept actually implying that doing LESS work, putting in LESS effort will help us achieve things faster? Not exactly.

The path of least resistance does not suggest that you take NO action, but that you take PERFECT action. For example, the biggest thing we can observe applying the path of least resistance is nature. Everything in nature has a sole purpose, and 100% of the time, without fail, each thing in nature sticks to their purpose and therefore takes perfect action.

A tree grows towards the sun, takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen… always. A bee pollinates flowers or makes honey…. always. You wouldn’t see a tree struggling to swim like a fish or a bear struggling to be like a cloud. Each thing knows its purpose and place in the grand scheme of things, so no effort is put forth into being something that doesn’t come naturally.

However, don’t worry if you don’t know what the “perfect” action is for your life. As Eckhart Tolle says, Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for your evolution of consciousness. How do you know that this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment. Which means that every action is perfect, nothing ever goes wrong per se.

We create problems for ourselves when we sit in resistance of a situation, we believe in our heads that things should go a certain way and when they don’t go that way we are frustrated.

Or when a situation has repeatedly shown us that things are not working out, we may continually try to force what we believe to be the way things should go on people, places or things only to be disappointed over and over.

The greatest thing about the flow of our lives is that it is always trying to push us forward. We create dams and blockages for ourselves by our limited belief systems. So how do we know if we are following the flow or going against it?

Here is some path of least resistance suggestions:

1. Am I listening to my thoughts about a situation or my body’s signals?
Your thoughts will lie to you. They will tell you eating a quart of ice cream is a good idea & then after you do it, they will tell you that you should be ashamed of yourself. Your body-mind cannot lie, it’s the tension you feel in your body when you are around certain people, the upset stomach you get when you are in a stressful situation, the tightness in your chest you get when someone or something makes you uneasy, and so on.. When you pay attention to your bodies signals instead of your thoughts you can decipher which situations make you FEEL good which will guide you only to things that are ultimately going to make you more fulfilled and happier.

2. Do I accept situations as they are or do I find myself wishing people/places/things would change to meet my expectations?
There are going to be things in life we cannot change. We can’t change who is in our family, we can’t change the past, we can’t change the way another person behaves. When we learn to see the difference between which things in our life we can change vs. which things in our life are unchangeable, we learn the power of acceptance. Also, we empower ourselves to change things in our life that make us unhappy and accept the situations that we can do nothing about. When we accept things we cannot change, we allow ourselves inner peace because we are not living in the how we think things “should be”, and instead are living in the how things are.

3. Am I motivated by fear or love?
When love is behind our actions we will know it. We will feel good and happy and joyful when we are engaged in those activities. Fear is tricky because many times it will disguise itself as love. For example, a person may stay in an unhealthy relationship for too long under the guise of “but I love him/her.” Even though they know they are unhappy and the other person is as well, the fear of not wanting to be alone outshines the love they should be showing to themselves.

When we switch our motivation to love we naturally attract situations to us that make us feel good. Being in love with life will help us progress with the forward flow of life more quickly than staying in unhealthy situations a little too long.

4. Am I too attached to the “how” something will happen instead of the “what” I want to happen?
This is a huge one. Our ego/thoughts are always trying to make sense of everything, so when we choose a specific goal that we are trying to work towards our mind automatically starts coming up with a plan of how it is going to happen. And if a goal sounds too unreachable your mind may also tell you to forget about it, it’s not going to happen.

These types of thoughts create roadblocks in our path because if we don’t believe it is achievable, it won’t be. When we follow the path of least resistance here we open ourselves up to limitless possibilities, instead of closing ourselves into exactly how we believe things should happen.

5. Can I find purpose in my day to day existence?
It doesn’t matter if you are a garbage man or a stay at home mom… every job has a purpose. When the perspective of our job is how much we hate it we are in resistance all day long. No, it does not mean to work at a job that is unfulfilling your entire life, what it means is that for the time being, while you have to work where you work, enjoy it.

Focus on all the ways what you do helps people, or makes them happier, or makes their life easier. When you see your job in these terms, the day flows faster, because we are happier and sitting in acceptance. Not only that but when we are happy we attract us more opportunities…which may eventually lead us to our dream job. When we go with the flow of our life instead of against it our life runs more smoothly and progresses more quickly.

And the great thing is that it’s never too late to start following the path of least resistance. In fact, it’s probably the easiest thing you can do because you do what comes naturally instead of forcing things to go how you think they should. This path opens us up to the intelligence of the universe instead of the “intelligence” coming from our own ideas and thoughts, which means we become open to the limitless potential that exists in the universe… which can be an amazing thing as long as we allow it.

National Strawberry Parfait Day

Strawberry Parfait Day is today!

Parfait is French for perfect. The traditional parfait is a dessert of ice cream or frozen custard layered in a tall glass stemmed glass with fruit and topped with whipped cream.

Today, the ice cream is often replaced with yogurt or pudding and additional layers of granola are added. Strawberries are in season during the month of June, so it is a good time for National Strawberry Parfait Day. 🍓

Happy Summer Solstice

June 21 solstice is an auspicious half-year marker, a time when you can reflect on where you are in life and connect with spiritual fire for the upcoming months. It is a time, too, of celebrating the change in seasons and acknowledging natural rhythms that connect you to the pulse of the cosmos.

As you feel more connected to the natural dance of life, you become more resourced on all levels such as gaining clarity about expressing your purpose, catalyzing your forward momentum, and having the higher frequency you need to be a potent healing force in the world.

Solstice also coincides with the culmination of Wesak season, allowing you to tap into amplified levels of light and blessings available for several weeks each year. It’s not necessary to know anything about Wesak or the enlightened masters associated with it to be impacted by this beneficial energy. Knowing that these energies exist ahead of solstice, however, is of benefit because when the blessings on your radar, you can intentionally invite them in.

Here are a few suggestions to reflect upon during Summer Solstice ☉

First is a connection with the divine feminine – not related to gender but as the source of creation and creativity. Invite a stronger connection with this essential energy. Ask to be shown through dreams and life happenstance how you can be more honoring of the feminine principle. Invite an understanding of where you are out of balance, where you block your own flow, and where you stop yourself from receiving.

Second is a connection with the gifts you as a soul are alive to express in the world. Ask to understand these from spirit’s perspective. Invite a knowing of how you discount your own gifts, how you hold back, or how you ignore natural rhythms when offering your gifts to others.

Third is a connection with the love that naturally abides within you, always present and available. Ask spirit to reveal examples of how this love is the most potent transformational force you have. Invite a knowing of the ways your love helps others awaken, helps bring comfort, and helps show people the way out of their own darkness.

Solstice Blessings,

K ♡
